Together We Can Program
Purpose:
The purpose of this initiative is to provide an opportunity for our students with special needs to be educated with their typically developing peers and to provide a more inclusive setting for our students. The TWC childcare program is led by the RRISD Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities and integrates special education peers with the pre-kindergarten class.
The tuition-based program is available to children of RRISD employees, ages three to five. Childcare is provided from 7:00am - 4:45pm on all school days and staff development days starting August 24th, 2015. |
Waiting List:
TWC no longer uses waiting list for enrollment. Instead a district email will be sent out to all RRISD employees in the spring letting them know that TWC enrollment soon be open. Once enrollment is open, placement will be first come first serve. If you have any questions, feel free to email Sarah Wright at [email protected].
Frequently Asked Questions:
Many questions can be answered in our TWC Contract, if you cannot find the answer to your questions there, or in the FAQs below, please feel free to email [email protected] for more information.
- Are PPCD students eligible for the TWC Program?
The TWC day care program is only available to RRISD employees. If you are a RRISD employee with a PPCD student, your child may be eligible for the TWC program if they are able to meet all of the criteria outlined in the contract. Each student will be considered on a case by case basis. - What's up with the TWC waitlist?
TWC waitlists are no more. The district will send out an email in the spring. At this time, you will have to opportunity to fill out your preferences for your TWC campuses. The district will place students at TWC campuses based on time of submission and placement preference. - Is this an academic program?
No. The TWC program is a day care program. The primary focus of the program is to provide our PPCD students with peers to practice their social skills with. That being said - we do work on some academic skills with all of our students, so TWC students will have some exposure to pre-school curriculum. There will not be teacher conferences or progress reports for TWC students.
