Referral for PPCD
The PPCD program provides special education services to eligible 3, 4, and 5 year old children. Services may be provided on campus or in some cases, day care, mother’s day out, or in the home. Parent-professional collaboration is an integral part of the PPCD program.
If you believe that your child belongs in the PPCD program, please contact the lead PPCD Teacher, Kellie Johnson at [email protected] to begin the referral process in order to find out if your child is eligible.
Referral Process:
• Families of children ages 3-5, who reside within the RRISD school boundaries can make a referral anytime during the school year.
• Parents call with concerns and a Child Information Packet (CIP) is sent to the family to complete
• When the CIP is returned, the team schedules a Play Based Assessment
• The Play Based Assessment takes approximately an hour
• Team reviews screening results with the
• If further testing is NOT warranted, strategies, suggestions and developmental guidelines are provided.
• If further assessment IS necessary, an additional appointment is scheduled
• If child meets eligibility, team notifies campus and writes report
• Families receive a copy of the report
• ARD meeting held to discuss evaluation/eligibility and determine services
• Services begin
